Talimena Drive: A National Byway

is a gorgeous 54-mile route, which spans one of the highest mountain ranges between the Appalachians and the Rockies. One breathtaking panorama follows another as this National Scenic Byway winds along the crests of forested peaks between Mena, Arkansas, and Talihina, Oklahoma. Visitors to the area can learn about Native Americans, the Civil War and even Viking explorers as they enjoy Talimena's scenic beauty and natural wonders.

Talimena: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When is the best time to view the fall foliage?

A: The leaves start turning around the end of October and there is usually color until the middle of November or later depending on the weather. To see the most color plan to visit the last week of October or the first week in November. Each week after the 15th of October, the Talihina Chamber of Commerce posts a color update and pictures on their website (www.talihinacc.com). Lodging information is also available on this website.
