The Cimarron Heritage Trail Byway
is the westernmost county of the panhandle of Oklahoma. It is the only county in the United States that touches four other states. Those states and locations are northeast New Mexico, southeast Colorado, southwest Kansas, and the panhandle of Texas. Highway 287 (the future Ports-to-Plains Corridor) passes north/south through Cimarron County. Highways 64 & 56 are the major east/west highways. Boise City is located in the center of Cimarron County.

Wichita Mountains Scenic Byway
travels through southwest Oklahoma's historic towns of Medicine Park, Meers, Mountain View and Apache and onto the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, offering a blend of historic and cultural venues. An abundance of recreational opportunities such as day hikes and camping, near the picturesque 650 million year-old mountains, are only an hour's drive from Norman. Be sure and stop at Medicine Park, the state's finest resort popular from the 1920's through the 1930's. Retaurants and interesting shops line the river that runs through town.

Route 66
treks through 400 miles of Oklahoma's diverse communities and countryside with end points in Quapaw, Oklahoma in the north and near Texola, Oklahoma in the southern part of the state. Ride through pastureland, hilly wooded areas and semi-arid prarie and find recreational opportunities and cultural attractions along the way including tribal sites, museums, vintage bridges, motels, festival sites and historic architecture.

Talimena Drive: A National Byway
is a gorgeous 54-mile route, which spans one of the highest mountain ranges between the Appalachians and the Rockies. One breathtaking panorama follows another as this National Scenic Byway winds along the crests of forested peaks between Mena, Arkansas, and Talihina, Oklahoma. Visitors to the area can learn about Native Americans, the Civil War and even Viking explorers as they enjoy Talimena's scenic beauty and natural wonders.

Mountain Pass Scenic Byway
in southeast Oklahoma follows U.S. Highway 259 for 23 miles between Page and Octavia, Oklahoma. The drive crosses the tops of the Ouachita Mountains and cuts through the 26,445-acre Winding Stair Mountain National Recreation Area. Wilderness areas and the Kerr Arboretum offer seclusion for hikers, backpackers, and horseback riders. Also popular with the hiker or backpacker is the Ouachita National Recreation Trail, with beautiful vistas that can be accessed from the byway. A backpacker's camp on the Talimena Scenic Drive that this byway bisects is open all year and has a breathtaking view of Holson Valley. Several nation forest campgrounds are located a short drive off the byway.

Mountain Gateway Scenic Byway
in southeast Oklahoma follows U.S. Highway 59/270 for 22 miles between Heavener and the Arkansas state line. The drive rides through the forested valleys of the Ouachita Mountains. The byway treks through the 26,445-acre Winding Stair Mountain National Recreation area. Numerous side roads and other scenic byways invite the traveler to explore these heavily forested mountains. Wildflowers in the spring proudly display their colors while autumn also puts on its own beautiful show.
